Many paper jams are easily preventable. Here are a few tips that will help reduce the frequency of jams by taking a little extra care when loading the paper tray.

1. Remove the tray and take all the remaining paper out of the tray. Look at the bottom sheets. Are they roughed up? If so, toss them into the recycle bin.
2. Check the position of the paper guides/stops. Position them at the correct width and length, not too snug or too loose.
3. Look at the paper you are using to fill the tray and check for torn or wrinkled edges or excessive curl.
4. Fill the tray, but not overfull.
